US Social Media Influencer Fined Following Mass E-Bike Gathering on Sydney Harbour Bridge

New South Wales authorities have levied a penalty against an American social media personality and served two traffic infringement notices for alleged reckless operation after a swarm of electric bicycle users gathered on the Sydney Harbour Bridge during peak-hour traffic on Tuesday.

The Incident: A Prohibited Ride

A group of approximately 40 individuals operating electric bikes and motorbikes travelled along the primary roadway of the bridge, where cycling is prohibited. The assembly subsequently reversed direction and traveled through the city’s CBD and a nearby district.

"There was potential for serious injury or fatalities," remarked NSW police assistant commissioner David Driver on the following day.

Law enforcement said they did not immediately pursue the riders due to safety concerns but instead located the group at a scenic Sydney lookout near the city gardens, where they dispersed.

Penalties Issued for Content Creator

Later in the week, authorities stated they had issued the US social media influencer known as the influencer, 26, with two traffic infringement notices for careless operation (with no death or previous bodily harm), with a fine of $562 and penalty points each, connected to the bridge incident. Officials noted that the investigation is ongoing.

The personality reportedly has more than 3.4m subscribers on YouTube and more than 1.2 million on the social media app.

Influencer's Comments

The online figure gave comments to a local publication this week after the incident gained traction on digital platforms, saying he regretted giving "bike life" a bad reputation.

"I’ll probably take responsibility. It was one of the safest ride-outs I have witnessed," he told the publication. "I am a visitor here, so I’m going to come here respecting the laws and norms of Sydney. When I decided to do a meet and greet it did not involve a group ride, it was just to greet people under the bridge."

"I did not know the area well, it was my fault we ended up on the bridge and I had a decision to make: either the group rides the full length of the bridge and comes back, an illegal act. Or we reverse, essentially, before entering the bridge. And I made the decision at the time to turn around."

National Debate on E-Bike Regulation

The spate of e-bikes on streets across the country has sparked growing calls for stricter rules. A senior government official, Mark Butler, recently said that illegal ebikes were a "complete hazard on the road."

"Young people have engaged in stupid things on bikes ever since the penny-farthing [but] the harm that are coming into our hospital emergency departments are absolutely devastating," he said. "We must make sure we prevent these things entering the country [and] officers are given the powers to take strong action, to confiscate them, to destroy them, to destroy them."

The state reported 226 injuries associated with electric bikes in the previous year. But, in the initial half of 2025, that figure surged to two hundred thirty-three injuries plus four fatalities.
