Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital comes as the sports world shared its support for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
