Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can now express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the production, commenting that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a different essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate placed a embargo on the investigation to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the result of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
After the killings, public figures shared divergent reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering controversial statements that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the those speaking out recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disturbing" and implied they demonstrated a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by remarking that an aide should have acted when the choice to speak on the death was made.
