The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
